Dubai, UAE, 27 August 2023: As the new academic year is approaching, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library was keen on organising a number of educational and cultural events to support students and parents, as part of its continuous efforts to promote education and encourage continuous learning.
In the first event, the library hosted ‘How to prepare school snacks for your kids’ workshop. Chef Alaa Hayek led the workshop, providing nutritional advice, reviewing different school snacks, and introducing creative recipes that are rich in health benefits, while taking into account common food sensitivities among students.
The library also organised a workshop entitled 'I am not a bully', led by trainer Fatima Al-Amiri. The workshop aimed to promote mutual respect and cooperation among students, and shed light on the impact of positive and negative words on children’s mental health.
As part of the library's efforts to promote the culture of reading, a session was organised within the ‘Coffee and a Book’ series, focusing on the book ‘The School of Life’, with the participation of Judy Mahfouz, founder of the TFKR Community Book Club.
Since the library also aims to support parents, a special workshop was organised, in coordination with trainer Hanan Ezz El-Din, on psychological readiness for returning to school and how to deal with various challenges. Ezz El-Din offered parents advice on the importance of creating healthy routines at home and adopting positive parenting methods, in addition to discussing ways to achieve a balance between studying, practicing sports, and spending time with friends.
These activities reflect MBRL’s commitment to serving the community and strengthening its role as a leading cultural hub that has a significant role in stimulating passion for reading and knowledge among all members of society. This supports the UAE’s vision and cultural strategies for the next fifty years and ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision.
