Dubai, UAE, 4 September 2014: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, handed a cheque for AED 5 million to Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of the Emirates Red Crescent Dubai branch in a meeting at DEWA’s headquarters. The amount is DEWA’s donation to the Water Aid initiative, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide clean water to five million people in a number of poor countries that suffer from water scarcity. Al Tayer commended the UAE Water Aid initiative, which demonstrates the commitment of the UAE to support humanitarian work all over the world. He also praised the key role of the Emirates Red Crescent. Al Tayer stressed DEWA’s keenness to participate in different humanitarian projects and initiatives in the UAE and abroad. DEWA’s strategy promotes corporate social responsibility, and the values of giving and solidarity among its staff and customers. DEWA adopts many activities and programmes that spread the culture of volunteering and humanitarian work among members of society. The activities promote cooperation and encourage consolidating efforts to establish the foundations of sustainable development.
