Dubai-September 2,2014: McDonald’s UAE is pleased to announce it has raised 300,000 AED from its 2014 Ramadan book campaign in partnership with Beit Al Khair Society. Now in its sixth consecutive year, the campaigninvolved the creation of four children’s books, ‘Family’, ‘Father’, ‘Friends’, and ‘Teacher’, which were sold throughout McDonald’s restaurants across the UAE during the Holy month of Ramadan.

This year, McDonald’s UAE sold over 50,000 of the specially created booksreflecting the Ramadan spirit and human values such as family and friendship bonds, parental love, and teachers’ respect.The proceeds were presented to Beit Al Khair Society in a special ceremony which was attended by Mr Rafic Fakih, Managing Director &Partner of McDonald’s UAE, and AbdeenTaher Al Awadi, General Manager of Beit Al Khair Society.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Fakih said: “Ramadan is the month of tolerance, compassion, and solidarity; and this initiative is a reflection of McDonald’s UAE’ values that are perfectly in line with these practices.Raising funds for a society that embraces orphansand invests in their educationwhile raising awareness among UAE children about the importance of reading and valuing human tiesis a double win. We are very happy with the outcome and will definitely continue to support Beit al Khair Society in securing a better future for orphans.”

On the same note, Mr. Al Awadi said: “Six years ago, McDonald’s UAE and Beit al Khair have joined forces to offer solid educational platforms to orphans. I am thrilled and proud of this sustainable partnership that has lasted all these years and that made a big difference in improving our children’s educational path.In the name of Beit Al Khairfamily, I would like to express my gratitude to McDonald’s UAE for the efforts they have put into this project, and the commitment they are showing to supporting our programmes.”

The four books produced and distributed by McDonald’s UAE’s 123 restaurants have generated an impressive popularity among children and their parents, marking another success of the company’s commitment to engaging the UAE communityto invest in the education of those in need.
