Dubai; U.A.E (19, March 2014): A tropical-techno wind inspires the new womenswear collection by Dirk Bikkembergs, originating from the sportswear-street world and traditional sartorial codes to express contemporary femininity through bright colors, combinations of different materials, high technical content and extremely sophisticated details. The color palette ranges from total black to total white, combined in the new glam-animalier print, all the way to vibrant chromatic explosions, including lawn green, flash green, lime green, Kos light blue, candy pink and fluorescent magenta. The hues blend together seamlessly in the stylization of luxurious macro flowers, printed on cotton fabrics and on the impalpable transparencies of organza, for maxi t-shirts, classic cut blazers and bomber-blousons, also available in the solid color variant for a more sophisticated yet relaxed look. The characteristic lightness and fluidity of the season is highlighted through see-through materials, such as the exclusive Japanese iridescent net, used for both windbreakers and oversize capes to be worn over very fitted cotton crochet dresses that accentuate the lines of the body like lingerie.
Feather light knitwear is perforated and sensual, with different laces mixing and matching to reveal original plays on bi-colors and inside-outs. Mesh is paired with sophisticated fabrics featuring tone-on-tone relief bouquet designs, inspired by the texture of lace, on tank tops, jumpsuits and cocktail dresses with an ergonomic fit, enlivened with volumetric ruffles and invisible crinolines. Details are both functional and aesthetic: coulisses embellish impalpable silk spotted dresses and soft, thin, raw-edged leather dresses available in the season’s strong colors; stitching is exalted by stretch surfaces borrowed from the beachwear world; colored zips mark vertical or asymmetric lines on dresses and even separate a garment into two separate parts of top and bottom. Biker jackets are revisited in denim- with the classic contrasting cognac-colored stitching-or in ultra light nappa, worn with college-style, neatly pleated skirts, while mini-coats and city looks are envisaged in elegant silk organza with refined duchess satin inserts forming decorative geometric color-blocks. And finally, jersey jumpsuits and dresses, extra long and comfortable, feature optical diagonal or horizontal stripes- at times combined with micro checks- for a fantastic all-over patchwork print, evoking the charming atmospheres and lifestyle of the Riviera in the ‘60s.
