Dubai Government Leadership Programme adopts ‘My Vision - Challenges in the Race for Excellence’ penned by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for its book review program

Dubai, March 7, 2014: The Mohammed bin Rashid Centre has announced the selection of ‘My Vision - Challenges in the Race for Excellence’, written by H.H. Shiekh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, as a topic for discussion panels attended by participants of the Government Leadership Programme.

The book, which focuses on developing leadership qualities, will benefit the participants of the GLP immensely. The Centre, which supports the Government Leadership Programme (GLP), has adapted book reviews as one of its primary educational tools.

In addition to theoretical and practical guidance, and personal development tools, the GLP also uses book reviews as one of its core training tools. The training also incorporates communication forums, hosting international and local speakers as well as assessment processes, development, and field visits.

Speaking in conjunction with the announcement, Amal bin Udai, Director General of Dubai Government Human Resources Department, said: “The book review training tool focuses on the role of reading in developing leaders’ talents. Emiratis are fortunate to have a role model who has set new leadership standards, globally. The ‘vision’ that Sheikh Mohammed has talked about in his book will guide leaders to attain success and accomplishments”. 

Bin Udai added that book reviews improve the knowledge exchange between participants of the programme by introducing the best of local and global practices, enhancing the efficiency of analytical thinking and by developing new and innovative ideas, all of which can be achieved only through reading. She also stressed on the importance of book reviews in strengthening the principle of teamwork as well as an effective link between experiences and creative ideas to keep track of evolution and constant change among the leaders.
     
As part of the programme, book reviews highlight selective titles related to the GLP. Its participants are divided in groups to read the book, and encouraged to present and discuss it with their colleagues and instructors.
Conceived by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the book ‘My Vision - Challenges in the Race for Excellence’ presents the vision of His Highness and his insightful account of development - a process which is based purely on excellence. The book also highlights the transition in the UAE and Dubai from their role as a regional economic platform to playing a vital role in global economics. This achievement, the book defines, was possible thanks to focus on the sectors of professional services, tourism, economy and, above all, an insistence on thought, knowledge and creative energy. The book emphasizes on the principles of co-existence, hard work and experiencing self-development, with the ultimate goal being the elevation of the people and the homeland.
