Farmers' Market on the Terrace returns for fifth season at Jumeirah Emirates Towers

Locally grown fresh produce on sale every Friday until May

Dubai, 26 November 2013: The popular Farmers' Market on the Terrace will return for its fifth season at Jumeirah Emirates Towers on Friday 29 November 2013.

A locally inspired, community-based initiative, the market on the terrace of the hotel's Godolphin Ballroom offers fresh, locally grown produce. It provides a platform to support local farmers who sell their freshly harvested produce directly to consumers, giving visitors access to some of the freshest goods at the most attractive prices in the region.

Yael Mejia, food consultant to Baker & Spice Dubai and the Farmers' Market champion, said: “By purchasing fruit and vegetables at the market, not only are you getting the freshest produce possible, there is a good variety. You can feed your family with quality ingredients for the week at considerably less cost than you would spend in the supermarket.  In addition, you are doing your bit for the environment, reducing the carbon footprint, and supporting an ethical practice.”

Local farmers include Showaib Farm Al Ain, Rashed Farm Al Ain, Organiliciouz Sharjah, Organic Land, BTC, Integrated Green Resources Abu Dhabi & Dubai. Visitors can buy organic produce including vegetables, eggs, honey, jams, bread, cakes, beans, pulses and rice. Baker & Spice Dubai will have fresh breads, cakes, jams, curds, compotes and chutneys on display alongside breakfast - homemade sausages and baked beans with eggs in homemade pitta bread.

Down to Earth Organic Foods will showcase pulses, rice, herbs and spices along with teas and chutneys. Coffee Planet will also be on hand for an early morning caffeine boost with locally roasted organic coffee.

Close to convenient parking, the market will be under a shaded avenue of palm trees, with the stunning gardens and the iconic towers as a backdrop. Throughout the UAE's growing season the market will continue every Friday from 9am - 1pm until the end of the season in May.

The market is located next to the Boulevard, home to lifestyle, fashion and dining options and provides guests the perfect retreat before or after their food shopping at the market. Jumeirah Emirates Towers has over 15 restaurants, bars and lounges presenting visitors to the market with a diverse selection of contemporary and traditional dining destinations.
