If Dubai wins the right to host Expo 2020, it will help create over 277,000 jobs and is expected to contribute over €28.8 billion to Dubai's GDP and €17.7 billion (Dh86.2 billion) in added value to its economy, according to the Expo 2020 organizers.Expo 2020 is expected to attract 25 million visitors during the six months between October 2020 and April 2021, 71 per cent of which would originate from outside the host nation for the first time in the Expo history.

If Dubai's bid is successful, it will become the first city in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region to host a World Expo. Dubai is competing with three other cities – Sao Pauloof Brazil, Izmir of Turkey and the Russian city of Yekaterinburg– to host Expo 2020.

The winning bid will be announced on November 27, 2013 in Paris following a vote by the 167 member nations of the Bureau International des Expositions, the intergovernmental organization in charge of overseeing the calendar, bidding, selection and organization of World Expos.
