70% of the designers from this year's edition of 60 designers will debut with their creative designs in Dubai. NUMAISH strives to source new talent with every edition and is our endeavour to promote emerging & well acclaimed designers and artists that are dedicated in promoting their heritage, traditions and culture through their work.

Designers Profile:

GAURANG
Gaurang Shah from Hyderabad, first conceptualized his fashion design journey sitting in his father's small store which sold saris at the age of 8. As he grew up, he felt that woman will be ready to move beyond georgette and chiffons saris if presented with alternative fabric, textures and patterns. His vision was to create saris made in traditional ‘jamdani Weaves' on handwoven fabrics and implying eco-friendly techniques like use of natural dyes etc and giving a modern twist to our traditional fabrics. He collaborated with weavers from Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kolkatta, Chennai taking advantage of his weavers spirit and creative energy. Self taught textile and fashion designer Gaurang created excitement for over 500 weavers from across India when their motivation were fading away. Today, Gaurang's Khadi collections are one the most sought after attires by the modern Indian woman.

RAW MANGO

The label by Sanjay Garg is a brand of contemporary Indian handwoven textiles crafted using traditional techniques. Their products reflect the skills of the more than 450 craftspeople employed by Raw Mango. The Raw Mango aesthetic and philosophy has begun to revitalize an entire community with new life for a traditional form -- the sari

Arundhati Roy loves to drape herself in six yards of the Chanderi weave that's designed by Sanjay Garg, even Shabana Azmi and Renuka Chaudhary are fans of his minimalist yet creative Chanderi lines.

PURVI DOSHI
Her design inspiration is drawn from her Indian and Gujarati heritage in particular, combining traditional techniques with contemporary design while encouraging the dying arts of India. Purvi Doshi has had no formal education in fashion and honed her skills in the experience of 14 years in this business. Having had a humble beginning she has participated in more than 5 editions and is now a established designer at Lakme Fashion Week. Purvi has been contributing to the revival of the traditional arts and crafts of India, some of which are only captive with a handful of people in the remote villages of India. Her passion for fashion seems to be boundless as she indulges time and again into hitherto unexplored domains bringing out some exquisite motifs and patterns inspired straight from the folk arts of the country in general and of the region she belongs to in particular, Gujarat. Purvi is not shy to innovate and experiment with her designs and has created collections with enchanting blend of Indian with western. Her garments are not only aesthetically brilliant but also captivating to all age groups.

SWATI VIJAIVARGIE

Rang by Swati Vijaivargie Jain, as the name suggests is a play of color in garments and home textiles. Over the years, Swati has developed her signature style of developing and combining traditional embroideries and textiles with a modern look and international appeal. She specializes in thread resist dyeing and surface ornamentation techniques which can be seen in her prêt, bridal as well as home collection.
