SAF Art Spaces
Opening: 6.30PM, September 7, 2013

Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE) — Sharjah Art Foundation will present Vantage Point Sharjah, a photographic exhibition that will open on September 7, 2013 at 6.30pm in Building GH at SAF's newly inaugurated art spaces in Al Mureijah.  Photographs were selected from an Open Call that invited UAE-based photographers to explore the Emirate of Sharjah, including the Central and Eastern regions, and to submit work for possible inclusion in this group exhibition.

Vantage Point Sharjah presents a broad selection of responses to this Open Call and includes work by professional photographers and artists as well as photographs taken by individuals with an active interest and passion for photography.

The varied approaches to the landscape and life of Sharjah reflect the growing enthusiasm for photography as an artistic medium and offers viewers an opportunity to enjoy the work of local photographers. Sheikha Hoor Al-Qasimi stated: “This exhibition is one of Sharjah Art Foundation's new initiatives focused on public programming and community outreach.  We hope these initiatives will encourage people living and working in the UAE to participate in our activities and to become more engaged with the cultural life of the Emirates.

Following the opening of Vantage Point Sharjah will be a film screening of Amal by Emirati Director Nujoom Alghanem.  Free and open to the public, the screening will take place at 8.30pm in Building P at SAF's newly inaugurated art spaces in Al Mureijah.
