Fun City is looking for “Little Inventors”

~A platform to harness the future Einsteins' and Graham Bells' from UAE~

~ Scientist Dr. Eesa Bastaki and Parenting Expert Aamnah Husain amongst jury ~

~The “Little Inventors” event will be held at Oasis Centre on Friday, September 27th, 2013 from 2:30 pm onwards ~

Dubai, UAE – 26th August, 2013: Fun City, the largest Family Entertainment Center in the region from Landmark Leisure has launched “Little Inventors 2013”, an innovation competition earmarked to augment children's development and encourage them to think out of the box by engaging them in scientific activities outside their school environment. This competition, which is a first for the region by a non-educational player, also gives the participating children an opportunity to express their talents and hone their skills thereby providing a fillip to their self-confidence.

The Little Inventors event is hosted on https://www.facebook.com//funcitycomeplay where parents and teachers can register their children or class pupils in an individual capacity or in groups. Registration is divided into three categories and judged as per age (6 to 8 years), (8 to 10 years) and (10 to 12 years). Participants are required to drop off their entries on 19th, 20th & 21st September 2013. The final event including the presentation of the entries by the participants, the Judging process and the prize distribution ceremony will be held on Friday 27th September 2013 at Oasis Centre.

The winners of this innovation competition will be awarded a grand prize of a family visit (upto 6 members) to the world renowned museum Cité Des Sciences in Paris. The runner ups in each category will also receive a trophy each. A certificate of participation will be awarded to all participants too.

The submissions will be judged by the honorable Emirati scientist Dr. Eesa Bastaki, who believes that today's children are the scientists of the future, alongside. Aamnah Husain, a qualified Counseling Psychologist & Parenting Expert to Fun City and Mr. Silvio Liedtke, Chief Operating Officer, Landmark Leisure.

The evaluation of the entries will be done on the basis of quality of innovation, age appropriate innovation, utility and feasibility to integrate it into everyday usage, environment-friendliness of the creation and lastly the child's level of independence in creating the entry.

Both experts in their respective fields will evaluate the participants and their entries through the same criteria albeit differently which will result in a thorough evaluation of the entries”, he added.

Little Inventors is a step forward in the direction of the previously announced first ever Children's Play Index, which has been instituted by Fun City to understand children's playing patterns and behaviors in the UAE. It also seeks answers to parents' requirements in having their children participate in team work and social activities.
