Abu Dhabi, UAE, September 28, 2016: Yesterday, in celebration of the Year of Reading, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority hosted a cultural symposium featuring Emirati researcher Abdullah Abdul Rahman. The symposium entailed a dialogue and a flow of ideas about his book series titled, “Finjan Qahwa”.  

H.E. Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, opened the seminar and stressed in his speech that the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasize the importance of science, knowledge and culture to the progression of nations and measurable evolution of people. 

H.E. Al Suwaidi also added, “The institutionalization of reading in our society is one of the most advantageous behaviours that must be instilled in the hearts of our children; in-order to create a generation capable of growth and advancement in different spheres of life”. 

Abdul Rahamn provided detailed analysis regarding his three-volume book series, “Finjan Qahwa”. The series is regarded in many circles, a wealth of information pertaining to the early years of the UAE. Moreover the book series depicts life in the UAE before the discovery of petroleum; specifically life relating to culture, society and economy.
