Donation to Pay-off Debtors’ Financial Commitments, Alleviate their Suffering Dubai, UAE, September 1, 2016: As part of sustained efforts to strengthen the spirit of solidarity among members of the community, and in line with the objectives of its Righteousness and Piety Endowment Fund, Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) donated AED200,000 to Tarahum Charity Foundation to help alleviate the suffering of debtors. The provision honors the wishes of waqf donors who routinely contribute to AMAF's Righteousness and Piety Endowment Fund and is in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two foundations to step-up mutual collaboration - specifically with regard to resolving humanitarian challenges and empowering social segments. AMAF’s Righteousness and Piety Endowment Fund has garnered more than AED4 million from donations in 2016. The current donation will form part of the total funds distributed in 2016, with the rest of the finances to be allocated to deserving charities throughout the year. The AED200,000 donation will be utilized to pay-off some of the financial commitments incurred by debtors that have been registered as humanitarian cases with the Tarahum Charity Foundation His Excellency Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, handed over the cheque to His Excellency Amin Yuosef Al Khaja, General Manager and Board Member of Tarahum Charity Foundation, at AMAF’s headquarters in Dubai. His Excellency Tayeb Al-Rais from AMAF, said: “AMAF’s Righteousness and Piety Endowment is supported by regular contributions from waqf donors and businessmen in the UAE and wider region. Based on the requests of our donors, this contribution will help debtors who face difficulties in supporting their daily life demands to fulfil their obligations and become productive members of society.” He added that the donation also reflects a core mandate of AMAF, to spread solidarity, generosity, security and a spirit of harmony in society. AMAF previously handed over a cheque for AED400,000 to Dubai Police as part of its Righteousness and Piety Endowment Fund to help release debtors convicted of financial irregularities, in addition to inmates of Dubai’s punitive and correctional institutions that are obligated to pay blood money (Diyya). A part of this donation will also be dedicated to enable repentant addicts to perform the Hajj.
