Team Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team, is set to compete at the Dubai Tour, a four-stage race held from the 3rd to the 6th of February 2016. Starting from the Dubai International Marine Club on each day, the riders will cover 676 kilometers, taking in Dubai's most famous landmarks. The race attracts riders from five continents, with most stages best suited to the sprinters. Team Novo Nordisk is a global all-diabetes sports team of cyclists, triathletes and runners, spearheaded by the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team. The team mission is to inspire, educate and empower everyone affected by diabetes to show that people can still pursue their dreams. “Team Novo Nordisk is very excited to return to the Dubai Tour for a second time. This race was very good to us last year with Martijn Verschoor (NED) earning two top 10 finishes. Martijn will be returning, along with our standout Italian sprinter Andrea Peron, and both are eager to build upon these results,' says Phil Southerland, CEO and co-founder of Team Novo Nordisk. “The United Arab Emirates has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the world so our team aims to show what may be possible with the condition as well as share our mission of inspiring, educating and empowering people affected by diabetes.' Mads Bo Larsen, Corporate Vice President, Novo Nordisk, said: “Diabetes is one of today’s most pressing healthcare challenges in the Middle East. As part of our long-standing Changing Diabetes® programme, the Team Novo Nordisk athletes are raising awareness of the diabetes pandemic and inspiring people affected by diabetes. Novo Nordisk is very proud of the unique Team Novo Nordisk partnership and we look forward to having them race here in Dubai.”
