In Thai tradition, the annual Songkran festival marks the sun’s entry into the zodiac sign of Aries, when families and friends celebrate with food, music, and dancing. At the resort’s award winning Southeast Asian restaurant, Sontaya, guests can experience Thailand’s most striking festival by indulging in famous Thai cuisine, hospitality and cultural traditions between12 and 19 April 2015. With an impressive seven course menu presented by Thai Chef de Cuisine Peter Peerapong, guests will experience signature dishes from seven different areas of Thailand, highlighting the distinctive tastes of the Southeast Asian region. While live cooking in the show kitchen demonstrates the preparation of Thai cuisine. Dishes include butterfly pea flower dumplings and stuffed baby aubergine with braised Wagyu cheek. Combining traditional Thai flavors with inspiring, modern presentation, the seven course menu is available for dinner only (6:30pm - 10:30pm), is priced at AED 300 per person and subject to 10% service charge and 6% tourism fee. The resort’s Songkran Festival will host Discover Thainess 2015, an exciting programme of entertainment organized by the Thai Tourism Authority, which includes live music and dance performances throughout the festival as well as the iconic boats floating on the waterways of Sontaya. Adding further luxury to the celebration, festival guests will be in with a chance to win a stay in the Thai Spa Suite at the resort which is located on the white sands and azure waters of Saadiyat Island. While staying in the distinctive suite, the winner will enjoy a Thai massage and candle-lit dinner for two on the tranquil beach.
