The team from Coral Beach Resort – Sharjah has reported a spike in interest from both regional and overseas visitors at Arabian Travel Market in Dubai earlier in May, underlining potential for growth in business for the emirate’s premier beach resort.

According to Jean-Pierre Simon, Regional General Manager, Northern Emirates, Coral Hotels & Resorts, the work of the Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has excited demand in new markets as well as existing markets.

“Visitor statistics revealed during ATM show a 15 per cent growth in visitor numbers during the first three months of 2014, compared to the previous year, with growth from Europe, the GCC and Asia,” he said.

“At the Coral Beach Resort – Sharjah, we witnessed this rise in demand and are looking forward to a busy summer as well as full occupancy during the peak winter months following a packed schedule of appointments with travel agents and tour operators during the ATM.”

The emirate of Sharjah is the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2014 and next year will act as the Capital of Arab Tourism, with activities including the reopening of the Sharjah Hisn, a historic government palace originally built in 1823, as well as a calendar of cultural events.

“With a host of new cultural, natural and marine attractions in the pipeline, we expect awareness of Sharjah to grow in source markets as it becomes known as a value-priced destination that can cater to both sunshine tourism and those in search of authentic experiences,” said Mr Simon.

The Coral Beach Resort – Sharjah features 156 spacious rooms, many with panoramic sea-view. A major attraction is the wide repertoire of dining options with menus to cater to every taste. The resort is located on one of the emirate’s principal sand beaches and features a range of leisure activities for all ages, including the Rimal Club, state-of-the-art fitness centre, children’s pool, indoor playroom and complimentary Kid’s Club as well as tennis (by Clark Francis Tennis Academy), badminton, volleyball and two outdoor swimming pools.
