Dirk Bikkembergs Menswear Collection Spring/Summer 2014

Dubai; U.A.E (16, April 2014): The new menswear collection by Dirk Bikkembergs for next spring/summer revolves around the concept of sport - considered a primary value for achieving comfort and functionality - which deeply inspires fashion by suggesting a complete and transversal wardrobe exalted by technology and innovative tailoring.

The brand’s trademark sport-couture aesthetics become an authentic expression of dynamic and polished style for today’s contemporary man, who enjoys wearing elegant garments that are at the same time extremely sophisticated thanks to an underlying high-tech spirit and the innovative use of materials and colors.

From anti-drip zips to anodized aluminum buttons, from heat sealed pockets to stretch materials, all the way to shiny and matte contrasts, every single element is studied to respond to a desire for absolute modernity and urban refinement.

Silhouettes are particularly focused on the body and feature an ergonomic fit, which is influenced by traditional cuts but also open to looser, flowing volumes, while the color palette alternates neutral hues, such as optic white and sand, with total black and stronger hues, such as lawn green, orange and electric blue, evoking the classic colors of athletic uniforms.

Abstract, macro camouflage motifs characterize city suits in jacquard cotton, alongside glen plaid suits. The season’s different colors combine in blended brush strokes, multiple-hued color blocks and vertically or diagonally striped collages, creating clean, precise graphics.

The geometric rigor of the collection is skillfully counterbalanced by the new organic, crocodile-effect print on the superlight nylon windbreaker, to be alternated with the perforated cotton version, whose three-dimensional texture is reminiscent of nets, sporting contrasting, satin-finished aluminum zips.

Lightness is perceived in the transparencies of new sartorial city blazers, in brightly colored madras printed nylon, whose internal structure becomes visible, thereby transferring the graphic impact to the outside of the garment too.

Exclusive see-through workmanships highlight the most advanced reinterpretations of leather bikers, assembled with nappa panels applied to cotton stretch, whilst fitted, seamless sweaters feature full-ribbed or partially-ribbed cotton threads, to conceal or reveal the body.

For the evening, the look is completed by a black tuxedo made in special Japanese cotton, treated to resemble painted rafia, featuring a structured unlined jacket, finished with technical ribbon piping on the inside, matching lacquered buttons and duchess satin lapels.
