Five-Star Hotel Scoops Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals at The Emirates Culinary Guild Salon Culinaire

Despite fierce regional and international competition, Habtoor Grand Beach Resort & Spa walked away with 12 awards at the recent Emirates Culinary Guild Salon Culinaire, one of the highlights of GulFood, the world’s largest annual foodservice and hospitality show.

Entry to Emirates Culinary Guild Salon Culinaire is only open to young professional chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and bakers. The competition features a mixture of individual and team events (known as classes), with each class designed to test a wide range of skills and techniques in the preparation and presentation of food and its accoutrements.
Habtoor Grand’s Head Sous Chef Paul and his team pitted their culinary skills against more than 1,500 competitors from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, China, Taiwan and Russia.

Under the watchful eyes of VIP guest Gissur Gudmundsson - President of the World Association of Chefs Societies, as well as a panel of 27 international judges, the competition was hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre from February 23rd to 27th.

Chef Paul and his team scooped an impressive haul with one gold, two silver and nine bronze medals – as well as six merits.

“I am so proud of our team and it was an honour to be able to compete in this competition against a high standard of other chefs. We worked hard in preparation for this competition and we all feel very happy to have won so many awards,” enthused Chef Paul.
