Hunt for UAE's ‘Smart Tech Wizard' begins

•    Tata Consultancy Services announces fourth UAE edition of TCS IT Wiz in Dubai
•    Entries open for schools across Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates

Dubai, April 2, 2014: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, announced the fourth consecutive international edition of TCS IT Wiz after the roaring success for the last three years. The inter-school IT Quiz will be held in Dubai on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School.

The Quiz TCS IT Wiz is a part of a student technology awareness program and is open to all school students studying in class 8-12. There is no entry fee. Each institution is allowed to send multiple teams of two-members each to participate. The Quiz is open to students from Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain.

TCS IT Wiz is one of the largest Knowledge Platforms on IT. With the aim of nurturing the human capital and local talent in UAE, TCS is rolling out the Fourth international edition of this popular inter-school IT Quiz for school students across the UAE. Through TCS IT Wiz, the company aims to get school students interested about IT as IT plays an important role in today’s society and economy and is a key enabler for success in diverse fields.  The IT quiz acts as a platform to motivate high school students in developing an interest and awareness about the world of information technology.

TCS IT Wiz Format: The written prelims are a common set of 20 questions for all the teams at the venue. Questions are in the oral, visual and audiovisual form. Participants will answer the preliminary written round on pre-printed answer sheets given by TCS.

Final: The top six teams from the written prelim will qualify for final. Only the top scoring team from each school will be called on stage in the event that multiple teams from the same school qualify for the final. 

•    The winners of TCS IT Wiz 2014 - UAE edition will travel to India to participate in the International edition   of Mega finals, which will be held in December. 
•    The finals will also have a live Twitter contest for all the participants and two winners will receive separate prizes. 

Subject: The Quiz will focus on applications of Information Technology across various sectors, such as the Internet and unique web sites, IT buzzwords and acronyms, IT Personalia--international, national and local, advertisements of IT and communication companies, software products and brands, history of IT as well as the humorous side of IT. The Quiz will also cover areas where IT has made an impact--education, entertainment, books, multimedia, music, movies, internet, banking, advertising, sports, gaming, social networking, blogging, cell phones, etc. There will also be an exclusive round on TCS (refer www.tcsitwiz.com & www.tcs.com)

Animation based Quiz software:     

Today, quizzing is not about what question is asked, but how it is asked.  Generation Y wants something fun and relevant. The best way to connect with them is through technology.  For the last 2 years, the TCS IT Wiz has been presented through animation-based quiz software which has engaged the students in a generationally-relevant manner. The software has been a huge hit across the country, and students have been writing about it extensively on their blogs, in their tweets and on other social media forums. The idea behind the animation-based quiz is to load knowledge into the through the games people play, and to make it  generationally relevant

This year the rounds at the regional levels will be based on current technological happenings. Hence the rounds are aptly christened -Data clouds, Big Data Visualization, IOT- Internet of Things and Pin Trust!
