Diesel Black Gold showed it's collection at New York Fashion Week last night in a star studded fashion show with guests Kanye West, Coco Rocha, Anna Dello Russo, Carine Rotifeld, Joe Jonas, Petra Nemcova amongst others in the iconic Grand Central Station. With a fearless attitude, the collection combines elements from opposing worlds, and it speaks a spring vocabulary approached with irreverence. The fashion show took place at the Vanderbilt Hall, Grand Central Terminal, New York.
For Andreas Melbostad's second season the collection evolves its iconic staples to include a new, courageous fragility: metal eyelets, discs, zippers, buckles and hardware accents introduce luxe industrial elements, for a range of pieces, from leather to georgette. Lighter, softer materials - silk crepe de chine, silk georgette, cotton poplin, cotton voile - are juxtaposed against the collection's utilitarian core of leather and denim.
Denim is noble at Diesel Black Gold, constructed with Sangallo techniques – hand-finished with a contemporary couture appearance and feel.
The subversive use of pastels, white and black, adds further to the quixotic duality in the collection.
The pieces are worn with a relaxed ease and coolness. Leather lace-up and drawstring details combined with open buttons and zippers lend a free-spirit air and quality to the silhouettes.
