Backed by a full orchestra conducted by David Gimenez, the iconic Jose Carreras and Katherine Jenkins will come together to lead an all-seated crowd of thousands on an unforgettable journey through some of the most highly regarded classical music ever written. The landmark event is expected to up open up a new chapter in Abu Dhabi's already prestigious legacy of hosting classical music performances; exposing a new generation of UAE music fans to some of the finest voices the world has ever heard. In a career spanning more than 40 years, tenor José Carreras has cemented his status as one of the greatest classical singers of all time. Famed as one of the three tenors alongside Pavarotti and Domingo, Carreras is known for his mesmerizing performances in the operas of Verdi and Puccini, and is set to dazzle audiences at the du Arena on the 25th October. Meanwhile crossover artist Katherine Jenkins, who has worked with everyone from Gary Barlow to Andrea Bocelli, will bring a modern twist to this classic evening of live music. On the announcement of their Abu Dhabi date, Katherine Jenkins said, “It's only the second time that José and I will have performed on the same bill and Abu Dhabi will provide the perfect backdrop. I've not had a great opportunity to really delve into Abu Dhabi's growing cultural society but I'm expecting to get a great insight through this show.” José Carreras added: “It's going to be an inspiring location for us that is for sure. Abu Dhabi has really carved a place for itself as a new home for global culture and I look forward to getting in front of what I expect to be a very knowledgeable crowd.” Following on from Andrea Bocelli in early 2013, the du Arena is set to be transformed into an all seated theatre of classical music, with the highest standards of sound, light, refreshments and customer service. As an open-air venue, every music lover will enjoy unrestricted views of the stage and performers as the two stars, conducted by David Gimenz, deliver a truly unique evening of entertainment and another highlight of Abu Dhabi's cultural calendar. Carreras and Jenkins will be joined on stage by highly regarded conductor, David Gimenez. Music Director of the Orquestra Simfonica del Valles and a principal guest conductor of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, Gimenez is also the nephew of José Carreras and has conducted many of his performances, including the 1998 outdoor concert in Barcelona attended by 50,000 people.
