Ermenegildo Zegna and Maserati further consolidate their partnership, which was inaugurated in early 2013, to face the next venture in sailing the VOR 70 Maserati: the 47th edition of the Transpac Race from Los Angeles to Honolulu that will be held in July. After launching a three year project with Maserati, starting with the realization of a limited-edition collection 100 of the flagship Quattroporte made with exclusive interior fabric from Lanificio Zegna of Trivero, Gildo Zegna and John Elkann have decided to strengthen the collaboration between their respective brands in the context of the fascinating oceanic challenges of the VOR 70 Maserati, led by Giovanni Soldini. The collaboration will last until the summer of 2014. Maserati left Point Fermin, near Los Angeles, on July 13th on a direct course to Diamond Head Lighthouse in Honolulu. The boat will cover the 2,225 nautical miles of the Transpac Race by deploying its spinnaker with trade winds in its favor. The Maserati team will wear technical garments produced ad hoc by Zegna Sport. The collection – worn by John Elkann himself who will be part of the Transpac crew – provides the men with high-performance gear, innovative in the extreme comfort of the fabrics. The collection includes outerwear consisting of a jacket and vest in technical fabric, slim fit long and short cotton pants, cotton t-shirts, polo shirts in pique and a line of cardigans, sweatshirts and pants in Techmerino.
