Dubai, February 1, 2018:   Mr Peter Robson, Chairman of the University of Wollongong in Dubai’s (UOWD) Board, has been awarded the Order of Australia (OA) for his outstanding service to business through research and development in government advisory and leadership roles in the manufacturing and industrial relations sectors, and to engineering. 

Nearly 900 Australian citizens were recognised for excellence, achievement and commendable service and contributions in various fields such as sports, science, performing arts and media, in the 2018 Australia Day Honours List.

Mr Robson was appointed to the UOWD Board in 2003 and has been the Chairman since 2010. He has made a significant and long-standing contribution to the growth and development of quality Australian higher and vocational education both domestically and in global markets. Mr Robson has a distinguished track record of service to the Australian industry and employment and holds a number of key positions outside of UOWD, reflecting his continuing passion for innovation and excellence.

Currently Mr Robson’s portfolio includes roles in a number of Australian and International engineering and manufacturing companies such as: Chairman of Consolidated Manufacturing Enterprises, Chairman at CEA Technologies Pty Ltd, Director of Wallace Lane Wine Company Pty Ltd, Director of Ivernia Corp and Director of ADY Pty Ltd.

The Order of Australia is a prestigious award established in 1975 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  Annually the Governor-General approves appointments and awards on the recommendation of the Council of the Order of Australia.  The award of AO, Officer of the Order, is the second highest honour that is awarded.
