Dubai, 24th May 2017 UAE, Dubai: Quality Group concludes the 14th cycle of Emirates Women Award, under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group and the Patron of Dubai Quality Group. Emirates Women Award 2017 (EWA) honored local and expatriate women achievers from diverse fields of business and technology at Four Seasons Resort, Dubai. The award ceremony was graced by Fatma Buti Al Mheiri Chairman of DQG, Ahmed Al Mulla Vice chairman of DQG, government officials, dignitaries, and business women from across UAE, and local media. 

Emirates Women Award is one of the most important achievements of DQG which highlights the role of women in the UAE society. The award aims at recognizing & appreciating women in the UAE (both Nationals & Expatriates) for their outstanding contribution to the country, it was also a motivator, inspire and encourage the future generation of women to achieve their true potential by empowering their status in the society.

Fatma Buti Al Mheiri, Chairman, and Ahmed Al Mulla Vice chairman, honored 9 winners professional and business women from various fields of business.

The ceremony was opened with the welcome speech of Fatma Buti Al Mheiri, DQG chairman, pointed out that The Emirates Women Awards has been adjudged as one of the most prestigious and transparent awards in the region which has enabled us to benchmark achievements of women. The award is held annually to appreciate & recognize the active participation of women in the UAE society, which is highly encouraged by the wise leaders of the nation.”

She added “Today the Emirati women constitute two thirds of government employees and university graduates, and one third of the cabinet. Women are fortunate to live in UAE - a nation that transforms dreams into reality - giving women the right to dream and supporting them to turn their dreams into reality. As Emirati women, we hold a major responsibility towards our homeland & society to uphold our great heritage & history, in order to build of its bright future in the coming years.”

She added “The award allows for self-assessment personally and professionally, it is a journey of self discovery and EWA will continue to provide support and motivation to every entrepreneur and professional in the UAE.” 

She added “Today, as we celebrate by honouring these achievers, we hope that our message is successfully passed on to the future generation of women, to encourage them to follow and fulfil their dreams, goals & ambitions. I believe that we will witness more successful women in the future, venturing into new areas of business and conquering new heights, contributing their part to creating a community that aspire to be the best globally. And she thanked the jury for their efforts, fairness and transparency in selecting the best candidates.”

This year the participation was phenomenal as reached 110 participants includes 22 professionals and 88 businesswomen. The winners were selected and verified by the prestigious EWA assessment jury after conforming to all criteria and conditions of the award. The Jury Members & Assessors was headed by H.E. Dr. Amna Khalifa and Dr. Eisa Al Qaydi Chief Assessor & Consultant, Emirates Women Award 2017.

The participants were judged based on their leadership skills, strategic and financial planning, career achievements, community contribution and innovation. The award was drawn into two main categories — business owners and professionals from government private sectors. 

Emirates Women Award for the best performance, announced by the jury as follows:

Professional category:

-    winner was Prof. Badreya Nasser Al Junaibi

Businesswomen category:

-    winner was Dr. Zulekha Daud

•    Overall best performer - Leadership criterion 

-    First winner was Rasha Al Danhani
-    Second winner was Joelle Mardinain

•    Overall best performer - Strategic and Financial Planning criterion:

-    First Winner was Eng. May Alleem
-    Second winner was Salma Sakhnini

•    Overall best performer - Career Achievements criterion was Eng. Madiha Salem
•    Overall best performer - Community Contributions criterion was Buthaina Ahmad Al ali
•    Overall best performer - Innovation criterion was Dr. Nashwa Al Ruwaini 

The award ceremony was supported by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority as Main Sponsors, British Orchard Nursery as Platinum Sponsor, ARJMST Azza Al Qubaisi the Trophy Sponsor, Fujairah Welfare association as Gold Sponsor.
