They were received by Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police and guest of honour at the event, volunteers from Al Shabab Al Arabi Club and Emirati associates from Al-Futtaim Honda. Colin Cordery, Regional Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Honda said: “Our business is as much a part of this community as these children and it was an absolute privilege to host them. It has always been our endeavour to give back to the community and this year it is even more special as we support the call by the UAE government to be part of the Year of Giving. “I’d like to thank Major General Al Marri and his team and members of the Al Shabab Club for spending their valuable time with these children and for their wholehearted support for our event,” he added. As part of the event, the children were treated to a special Emirati breakfast prepared by the volunteers from Al Shabab Al Arabi Club followed by dance performances by children from Senses Residential Day Care Centre - a government-backed organisation in Dubai that caters to special-needs children whose families are economically challenged. Members from Al Shabab Al Arabi Club then read excerpts from the new book, Reflections on Happiness and Positivity, by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the children and following some fun games and activities, they were then taken back to the DFC showroom and given goodie bags from Al-Futtaim Honda.
