Dubai-UAE: 19 March 2017 - The Dubai Data Establishment (DDE) announced the conclusion of the Dubai Data Compliance Course that was designed in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) and targeted leaders from 14 government entities in the UAE.

The course focused on topics pertaining to data classification, publication and exchange among collaborating entities to boost customer experience and analyze performance in a way that can enhance Dubai’s competitiveness and improve the happiness of its citizens and residents.

His Excellency Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, said: “The nature of today’s government work, which is characterized by a growing global tendency towards digitization, forces us to make fundamental changes to data management and classification to facilitate data exchange and usage. Digitization, the internet and social media channels are all key resources to generate data. Therefore, our collaboration with DDE will help transfer global expertise and practices in data classification to segments that can make important changes to the performance of UAE entities.”

For his part, Younus Al Nasser, Assistant Director General of the Smart Dubai Office and CEO of Dubai Data Establishment, said: “Our contribution to this course reflects our commitment in training human capacities in UAE government entities in a way that aligns with work requirements of future governments. Since data represent a major component of Dubai’s smart transformation, we need to train leaders and enable them to innovate and come up with data exchange solutions and mechanisms that ensure best KPI results in their own entities.” 

Participating government entities included Dubai Chamber, Dubai Public Prosecution, Dubai Land, MRHE, Dubai Health Authority, Road and Transport Authority, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, Dubai Courts, Dubai Airports, GDRFA, Department of Finance, Dubai Data Office, Dubai Maritime City Authority, KHDA and Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.

Participants have expressed sincere confidence for the overall material which was provided in the session will strongly impact their careers, and it will also enhance their skill set in relation to the concept of smart city. In addition, participants believe that the data given sets basic pillars to the process of developing a set of public policies which complements the government’s efforts towards a happier society.

Designed in collaboration with the Dubai Data Establishment (DDE) under the supervision of the Smart Dubai Office, the program covered the subject of data and its relation to smart cities. In addition, it introduced global best practices in the use of data for customer service optimization. The course included four condensed lectures throughout six weeks tailored to the needs of the 70 participating government leaders.
