Lufthansa Technik Middle East begins operations at Dubai South

New LTME facility at Dubai South Aviation District receives first GE90 engine inlet cowl, from Etihad Airways, for repair

Dubai, UAE, February 9, 2017:  The new facility of Lufthansa Technik Middle East (LTME), started MRO services at the Aviation District in Dubai South. Recently, the first component, a GE90 engine inlet cowl from Etihad Airways arrived for repair at the facility. 

Speaking on the occasion Ahmed Al Ansari, Acting CEO, Dubai South said: “We are happy to welcome Lufthansa Technik, a leading global player in the aerospace industry, as the first company to begin operations at the newly opened Aerospace Supply Chain. The unique, first-of-its kind facility is designed to offer companies, in the MRO and aerospace industry, a multi-advantage edge given our strategic location and the synergistic aviation ecosystem that we are building at Dubai South.”

Jeff Wilkinson, Etihad Airways Engineering Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted to grow our partnership with Lufthansa Technik and immediately start on the next stage of our journey. Partnering with Lufthansa Technik complements our own business model, ensuring faster turnaround time of our off wing components.'

As the first entrant in the newly opened Aerospace Supply Chain, LTME is set to leverage the advantages of being part of an integrated aviation ecosystem that Dubai South is creating. 

LTME also offers material and spares. and engine wash services for commercial and VIP customers locally. Further evaluation of additional capabilities is ongoing depending on other customer requirements. The current LTME site at Dubai International Airport will be kept operational.
