Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 11th 2016: M/Advocates of Law, in collaboration with Dubai FDI, the foreign investment promotion agency in the Department of Economic Development (DED), recently held a “Dubai Business Forum” in Switzerland. The two-day event, which took place in Zürich and Geneva on February 1st 2016 and February 3rd 2016, was attended by over three hundred delegates ranging from business leaders and entrepreneurs to bankers, asset managers, lawyers and tax advisors. Yann Mrazek, Managing Partner of the firm, said: “I am pleased with the success of the forum and the turn-out, both from a quantitative and qualitative standpoint. In an environment where low- and no- tax jurisdictions are under increased pressure, it is paramount to educate people about the UAE being in a class of its own as a structuring center and hub out of and through which to deploy international business in a fully compliant fashion. With its combination of tax-free environment and extensive network of close to hundred double tax treaties, coupled with remarkable accessibility, ease of starting a business and lifestyle, the UAE is arguably the best and most versatile structuring hub in the world today.” The event combined presentations by high profile speakers on the jurisdiction’s regulatory, legal and fiscal environments with interactive panels each dealing with practical aspects of doing business in the Middle East. Ibrahim Ahli, Director of Dubai FDI, commented: “The welcome of the participants and their interest in Dubai was overwhelming; the ties between the two countries will only get reinforced. There are lots of synergies and, based on many discussions that I had during these two days, I am convinced that Dubai will continue attracting Swiss and European companies to develop their business in the Gulf region and beyond”. M/Advocates of Law will be holding similar events in other major financial centers in the course of the year. The next Dubai Business Forum is to take place in May in Paris.
