Dubai, UAE, 15th July 2015: Visitors from around the world have descended upon The Walk at JBR to enjoy the spirit of Ramadan through a new Ramadan concept, RWAQ, brought to life by five zones featuring: contemporary Arabic fusion food, curated fashion and home-décor retail, art installations and exhibitions illustrating Islamic culture, as well as interactive workshops. Following the success of the Ramadan activities, RWAQ is set to host additional exhilarating activities during Eid, inspired by the Arabian culture and heritage of the region. These include mise en scènes and performances by Syrian singer Zeina Aftimos Duo, Egyptian Sufi Skirt dancer Tanoura Dancer, as well as a live musical performance by all female band, Desert Roses Trio. The RWAQ event, running during and post Eid, will run from 2pm to 2am until July 25th. Entrance is free to the public. Please find below further details on each of the cultural performances that will be showcased during Eid: - Zeina Aftimos is a talented Syrian star, whose voice has been appraised as angelic and touching. In 2010, Zeina participated in Star academy 7, where she sang some of the Arabic and French musical masterpieces. Following her acts on stage, she has been renamed “Almasat Soria“, “diamond of Syria”. Zeina will be performing on July 24th and 25th, from 7pm to 10pm.
- Tanoura Dancer impersonated by Walid El Tanany, who is an Egyptian Tanoura dancer in Dubai. He has performed countless times in shows across the UAE. His dance finds inspiration in the ancient spiritual Sufi skirt rave. Walid will be skirt-spinning along to the music beats from July 18th to 19th and 24th to 25th, from 7pm to 12am.
- Desert Roses Trio is the first all female Arabic Band in the UAE. The full band consists of three members playing the violin, tabla or riq, and a singer who is also an oud player. These highly ranked musicians, some with their own albums released, will be filling the evenings with their notes from July 18th to 19th, from 7pm to 10pm.
- Gold Dancers is an extravagant female dance group, reflecting a colorful production of costumes bringing the arts and creativity of dynamic well-choreographed dancers to stage from July 18th to 19th, from 7pm to 10 pm.
- 3 Arabic buskers will be playing along the Rwaq for the public. You can catch them playing from July 20th and 23rd, 7pm to 12am.
- Arabic Fusion Trio will feature a cello, qanoun and percussion, and will run the show from July 24th and 25th, from 9pm to 12am.
- Sunny’s Pop-up Cinema will be showing Aladdin for children on July 20th, from 8:30pm. Sunny’s Pop-up Cinema will also be providing complimentary gourmet popcorn for the audience. Entry is free of charge. You will also be entered into a raffle draw for the chance to win AED 1,000 to spend with Splash at their pop-up store on The Walk.
- Extreme Excite will have children’s arts and craft workshops, face painting along with the sale of foil balloons and candy floss every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7pm to 12am.
- Among other exciting activities and things to witness, Seadoo will allow kids to have a joyous ride of Seadoo Sea scooters in a pre-set pool, under the supervision of trained staff for a safer experience. Kids up to 8-years-old can try the sea scooter for free.
- Marley Cruz will exhibit the largest skateboard ever built in UAE influenced by the Marley Cruz Metallic Gold Skate board.
