Apollo Hospitals awarded “Golden Peacock” for Business Excellence in Healthcare at the 25th World Congress on ‘Leadership for Business Excellence and Innovation’ held in Dubai

Dubai, UAE, April 21st, 2015: Apollo Hospitals, Asia’s foremost healthcare provider, has been awarded the ‘Golden Peacock’ Award by the Institute of Directors, in partnership with the Department of Industry Policy & Promotion, Government of India. This is the highest award for Business Excellence in Healthcare, and considered as a benchmark in Corporate Excellence awards. Mr. C. Natarajan, VP of Apollo Hospitals Group received the award at a glittering function held at the 25th World Congress on ‘Leadership for Business Excellence and Innovation’ recently held in Dubai. The hospital which has touched 39 million lives so far from across 120 countries, has received and successfully treated over 60,000 foreign patients from across the world, including the UAE in the last five years alone and the numbers are looking up every year.

Receiving the Award on behalf of Apollo Specialty Hospitals, Mr. C. Natarajan said, “We are delighted to be part of this prestigious event in Dubai. It is a great forum to exchange ideas and thoughts and listen to global industry leaders on a single platform.  Innovation, creativity and excellence in healthcare are important for the healthcare industry and the most important one in the recent past has been robotic surgeries. We have been associated with the patients from this region for several decades and the Middle East forms an important part of our global strategy.  Apollo is a major referral centre for minimally invasive surgeries and receives a large number of patients from all over the world looking for affordable, superior quality medical care along with less waiting time and minimum hospital stay. The Middle East forms an integral part of Apollo Hospital’s global strategy and the various Apollo Hospitals across the country see a lot of patients from the Middle East coming to them for critical and cutting edge tertiary healthcare. ” added Mr. Natarajan.

With a theme of – ‘Leading 21st Century Organisation through Innovation, Creativity and Excellence – ICE’, the event saw over 50 international speakers with professional experience and top 100 organisations from various countries participate at the forum. His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development was the chief guest at the Golden Peacock Awards Presentation Ceremony.

Rapid advances in robot-assisted surgery are offering new options for cancer patients and in the coming years robotics would have a greater role in tackling the cancer challenge in the Gulf region. Pioneers in minimally invasive procedures in India, Apollo Hospitals have successfully performed a wide range of procedures, including cancer surgeries, using robotic technology. Apollo Hospitals is the world’s largest private cancer care provider and runs the world’s leading solid organ transplant program.

“The hospital is at the forefront of offering the best medical services for patients from across the globe. Our aim is to bring quality healthcare of international standards within the reach of every individual from this region. We are committed to the achievement and maintenance of excellence in education, research and healthcare for the benefit of humanity. Providing quality healthcare of the best grade at affordable prices is our earnest endeavours as we aim to look at patients across the globe especially patients from the Middle East region,” added Mr. Natarajan.

Last year, Apollo Hospitals was ranked amongst the top organisations to work with by Gallup Great Workplace Award (GGWA) reinstating Apollo’s position amongst globally recognised organisations for mastering how to engage workforce to deliver sustainable growth.

In an attempt to make medical value travel to India a less tedious process, last year, Apollo Hospitals teamed up with Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines to connect international patients with quality healthcare services in India. As part of the joint venture, the patients and their attendants from 19 countries across Middle East and Africa can visit the hospital’s flagship locations in Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmadabad and Bangalore to avail specially formulated fares for round-trip flights on Emirates.
