It goes without saying that our view about life, relationship and world changed. The shutting of many businesses meant that the ones which survived were forced to think outside the box - evolve, restructured or innovate. LG too did just that, known for it’s R&D and innovative approach, within no time did they launched their PuriCare Wearable device. Nearly two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began, masks have become an essential part of our everyday life. While they have been a great tool to keep us safe, they come with a unique set of challenges – too suffocating, dull down our voice while simultaneously producing so much waste!
That’s why when the team over at LG contact me regarding their latest Wearable Air Purifier, I was all ears! Yes, you heard me right, it is a portable air purifier that you wear in the place of a mask!

What is the battery life like?
The Smart Mask took 2 hours to charge but it can be used for good 8 hours.
So…how does it work?
All the details are provided in the Owner’s Manual provided with the device and is easy to follow. To begin with, HEPA filters are to be placed in the side panels along with the inner cover and silicone face guard that easily attaches to the unit using magnets. To turn on the device press and hold the button for 2 seconds. It starts and stops with the sound of a beep. The whriling of the fan is followed, it starts sucking the air.
The device may look bulky but once you adjust the ear strap and wear, it feels comfortable. Without the strap it could not be worn for long term.
The fan in the machine makes breathing easy. The feeling of suffocation feeling that one gets while wearing a mask go away.
HEPA filters needs to be replaced after 2 months. Like a normal mask you need to replace the inner cover, 30 of them are provided in the box and will last for a month. What’s my favourite feature?
I’ve noticed that I’ve had to strain my voice when speaking in a regular mask. This has been probably one of the biggest adjustments for most of us. LG's Wearable Air Purifier has a built-in VoiceOn microphone has meant that I can be heard with no compromise at my safety.

While the price of the product is a bit steep, it is very comfortable and easy to maintain. Now, two years on from the pandemic it seems like masks are here to stay for a while, so it is defiantly an investment worth making!
