Dubai, October 20, 2018:   International Consensus Meeting, ICAGE-15, organised by Dr. Rajesh Devassy in cooperation with Dubai London Clinic and Prof. Dr. Rudy Leon De Wilde as a scientific chairperson, was held today in Dubai. Continuously providing live education experiences to the UAE based Gynecologists on minimal-access surgery, this 15th edition of workshop & symposium focused on Hysterectomy procedure, covering Myoma, Endometriosis and Revisiting Indications.

Over 50 attendees participated in depth clinical discussions, theoretical and didactic lectures and have observed live laparoscopic supra-cervical hysterectomy, crucial for further development of the skills and quality of minimal access surgery techniques amongst the Gynecologists in the UAE. ICAGE-15 brought to life the first ever live surgery demonstration of the fluorescence sentinel lymphadenectomy technology for the detection of cancer in the UAE, thus imparting this knowledge and raising awareness about how to minimize the negative impact of cancer surgery with the minimal access surgery.

Dr. Rajesh Devassy, Director of DR. Rajesh Devassy’s Centre of Excellence in Gynecological Minimal Access Surgery and the Head of the Department of Minimal-access Surgery at the Dubai London Clinic & Specialty Hospital stated: “This hands-on training was designed for specialists interested in expanding their knowledge with training and testing their skills in the field of advanced gynaecological surgery. ICAGE-15 has provided them with the opportunity to learn the modern techniques and how minimal access surgery can be simplified in the hands of an expert using of modern technology available in the market, thus ensuring best outcomes for our patients.”

Laparoscopic supra-cervical hysterectomy is an advanced and less invasive method of hysterectomy that allows preservation of cervix part of the uterus thereby, providing a better quality of life after hysterectomy, preventing immediate complications and with a faster psychological and physical recovery.

Dubai London Clinic has been a pioneer in laparoscopic supra-cervical hysterectomy with more than 90% of all hysterectomies being performed in this method. ICAGE, which was first organised in 2011, focuses on providing state-of-the-art training to Gynecologists and developing their expertise in minimal access surgery to the leading international standards of quality and skill set.
