Dubai Customs chief welcomes Dr. Hazza Al Nuaimi

Emphasis placed on strategic partnership to advance government excellence and prepare for the 2026 evaluation cycle

Dubai – 13 June 2025: His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, received Dr. Hazza Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Assistant Secretary General for Excellence and Government Services Sector at The Executive Council of Dubai, during his visit to the Department. The visit marked the launch of an awareness workshop entitled “Standards of the Government Excellence System for Department Directors,” which was jointly organized by Dubai Customs and the Excellence and Government Services team, as part of ongoing preparations for the 2026 evaluation cycle.

Dr. Busenad welcomed Dr. Al Nuaimi and affirmed Dubai Customs’ commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the Dubai Government Excellence Program. He emphasized the organization’s dedication to adopting best institutional practices that align with the aspirations of the UAE’s leadership and support Dubai’s leading position in government performance.

The meeting included a presentation on the latest updates of the Dubai Government Excellence Program based on the new 2026 model, along with a discussion on ways to enhance institutional competitiveness and improve customs services through innovation and continuous improvement. Dubai Customs also shared its future initiatives and their role in reinforcing Dubai’s global leadership in institutional excellence.

On the sidelines of the visit, Dr. Al Nuaimi participated in the inauguration of the awareness workshop “Standards of the Government Excellence System for Department Directors,” attended by a number of Dubai Customs department heads. The workshop focused on reviewing the updated standards of the Government Excellence System in accordance with the revised 2026 model of the Dubai Government Excellence Program. The “Dubai Government Excellence Program Guide – 2026” was presented as a modern tool aligned with Dubai’s future ambitions, enhancing its global standing and competitiveness in government performance.

During the workshop, Mr. Ahmed Hareml, Director of Government Services and Excellence at the Executive Council of Dubai, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the importance of promoting a culture of excellence in government services through institutional capacity building. He also stressed the team’s readiness to support development needs and capacity-building efforts in this area.

This workshop reflects Dubai Government’s ongoing commitment to embedding a culture of institutional excellence by developing government competencies and adopting global models in performance, innovation, and future readiness—contributing to the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and enhancing the emirate’s regional and global competitiveness.
