Union Coop signs MoU with Cotopia for Social Responsibility

Dubai, UAE - December 08, 2021:  Union Coop, the largest consumer cooperative in the UAE, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cotopia for Social Responsibility, intending to provide material and moral support for the “Your breakfast, their Suhoor 4” initiative, one of the community initiatives supported by the cooperative since the launch of its first session.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department, on behalf of Union Coop, and Mr. YOUSIF AL OBAIDLI, CEO of Cotopia for Social Responsibility, at the Al Warqa City Mall, Dubai.


Under the MoU terms, Union Coop provides material and moral support to Cotopia through its sponsorship of the “Your breakfast, their Suhoor 4” initiative, which aims to spread the culture of preserving grace in society, overcoming the manifestations of extravagance in food and reducing the percentage of waste, in addition to many other items included in the agreement to ensure its implementation and benefit from the initiative to the fullest.


On this occasion, Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki said that this memorandum comes within the framework of the cooperative’s keenness to extend bridges of collaboration with all the leading societal institutions in the country, as Cotopia is one of the bodies that works a great deal in serving members of society, pointing out that supporting the goals of the Foundation and its initiative “Your breakfast, their Suhoor 4” is part of the cooperative’s vision and strategies that are in line with the directives of the wise leadership that community support is a method and approach to work in all governmental and private institutions and agencies in the country.


In turn, Mr. YOUSIF AL OBAIDLI  stressed that the initiative provides a model for innovative, interactive voluntary youth initiatives that will contribute to spreading the culture of preserving grace with its innovative model, noting that the initiative educates the community about the importance of domestic economy and the negative impact of food wastage on it, and the damages resulting from excessive consumption of food and the importance of donation of surplus food under the supervision of the competent authorities according to the highest standards of food safety, where the memorandum of understanding between Union Coop and Cotopia for Social Responsibility comes within our great keenness to highlight the societal role in the country.
