RAK Academy Begins New Academic Year With High Safety Standards in Effort to Protect Returning Students

Home >> Education and Learning
Ras Al Khaimah, 13th August 2020: Ras Al Khaimah Academy – a leader in the primary school sector in the Emirate – is set to welcome the new academic year with a set of stringent precautions to ensure students’ safety from the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Academy is working to assure parents that their children will be attending campuses that adhere to the highest safety standards when they re-open on August 30, 2020.

Academic institutions across the UAE had been ordered to close in March 2020, as part of the COVID-19-related precautions, relying instead on remote learning, where students attended their lessons online from their homes. Schools have been given the green light to re-open but within strict guidelines including social distancing, maximum class sizes and sanitization requirements.

Graham Beale, Executive Principal of RAK Academy, said: 'We are delighted to be kicking off the new academic year and welcoming our students back, and we look forward to carrying on with our outstanding academic journey. Moreover, we reaffirm our full commitment to implementing strict precautions, in line with the restrictions and guidelines issued by the UAE Ministry of Education. The health and safety of our students and faculty are our utmost priority, and with that in mind, we have arranged for periodic disinfection of our facilities and means of transportation.

Precautions and Procedures

Precautionary measures implemented at the RAK Academy campus include:
• Personal precautions
• Social distancing
• Postponing programs, events, and activities until next year
• Health tracking
• Sanitization Protocols
• Employing modern education and training

RAK Academy has opted for reinstating the full school day for younger pupils from Pre-K to Grade 1 and for senior students in Grades 10 to 12.  For Grade 2 to Grade 9 (inclusive), the school will re-open based on a blended learning approach, meaning that students will be attending school onsite for half a week (day on/day off) and for the rest of the week will be provided online learning at home, through virtual classroom access, live-streamed lessons and asynchronous learning opportunities, subject to final MOE approval.

Students who are unable to attend RAK Academy on campus at all, due to illness, quarantine, or other family considerations, will be able to participate in a full online learning programme from home.
