More Than 47,000 Beneficiaries of Services Offered by IACAD in 2019

• 54 services were offered in 2019
• Islamic Affairs Sector services had the highest number of beneficiaries, as 44,286 customers benefited from it
• IACAD ranked eighth according to the results of the 2019 Government of Dubai Customer Happiness and Mystery Shopper Index surveys, achieving a percentage of 87.1%
 
Dubai, 15 March 2020: The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) announced that the number of beneficiaries from its services reached 47,381 in 2019. Beneficiaries received 54 services from IACAD across various sectors during the past year. This is part of IACAD’s commitment to satisfy customers and meet their requirements.
 
Commenting on the results, His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director General of IACAD, indicated that IACAD is keen to provide its services to customers with the highest efficiency and transparency, and based on best practices and technology in this field. He mentioned that the department continues to devise strategies and programmes that provide the best services to customers in the emirate of Dubai. 
 
His Excellency said: “In line with the vision and guidance of our wise leadership, IACAD is keen to keep pace with the requirements of customers in accordance with international standards and practices. IACAD was ranked eighth in the 2019 Government of Dubai Customer Happiness and Mystery Shopper Index with a score of 87.1%. The survey is part of Dubai Government Excellence Programme of The General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai. We look forward to achieving a score of 100% and rank first.”
 
The annual report for 2019 indicated that the services of the Islamic Affairs Sector achieved the largest number of beneficiaries at 44,286. Beneficiaries of this sector’s services were distributed as follows: 16,107 beneficiaries of fatwa requests; 9,636 for request for issuance of permit for publication or printing of the Holy Quran and 4,501 for permit for printing of Islamic publications. Furthermore, there were 3,785 beneficiaries of request for proclamation of Islam; 3,300 for registration in programmes and events of IACAD; as well as 6,957 for other services.  
 
Beneficiaries of the Charity Sector services, meanwhile, reached 1,688. Their requests were distributed as follows: 1,319 for establishment requests for religious or charitable activities; 224 for application to issue approval to appoint employees or volunteers in a charity foundation; 86 for application to issue authorization to cooperate with external charity foundations; and 59 for other services.
 
As for the Institutional Support Sector, the number of beneficiaries of its services reached 1,172, all of whom benefited from Request for Obtaining Releases of the Department or Sheikh Maktoum Copy of Holy Quran. The number of beneficiaries of the Mosques Affairs sector services stood at 235. Their requests were distributed as follows: 225 beneficiaries of request to identify qibla direction for the individual accommodations and new or existing installations; 6 for Technical Consultation applications to build a masjid and 4 for other services.
 
IACAD serves the community by setting general policies for Islamic affairs and charitable activities, organizing and managing mosques, and supervising charitable societies, institutions and Islamic centres. This is part of its commitment to establish moderation and tolerance, and increase sustainable charitable work in the emirate of Dubai.
