Abu Dhabi, UAE – July 15, 2019:  ADNOC Schools’ Sas Al Nakhl Campus raised AED 86,000 for the UAE Red Crescent and received the prestigious Aoun Award for Community Services sponsored by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), for their outstanding humanitarian efforts and contribution towards society and help penurious families around Abu Dhabi through the guidance of ERC.

Led by grade 12 student Reem Al Ali, seven students from the Sas Al Nakhl campus participated in the competition, and helped raise funds through a charity sale initiative. The team of participants organized a number of fundraisers, including bake sales and used-book sales to raise AED 86,000, collectively. All proceeds from the Sas Al Nakhl charity initiative will be dedicated to Red Crescent, and will help set up the ERC activities scheduled for 2020.

The award ceremony was held at the Abu Dhabi University campus under management of ERC Authority, with the support of Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and the Ministry of Education (MOE). Attended by Rashid Al Mansoori, Farj Al Muhairbi and Rashid Mohammed Al Kaabi, the annual event reinforced ERC’s commitment to strengthen the social relations between individuals and groups and harness human potential in humanitarian and social activities.

The distinguished Aoun Award adds to Sas Al Nakhl’s long list of humanitarian accolades, including the United Nations award and the Dubai cares award.
“It is an honour to be recognised with this important award. We’re proud to see our students display exceptional proactivity, and readiness for volunteerism, while maintaining their morale throughout their charitable initiative.

We wholeheartedly support the ERC’s efforts towards instilling the culture of goodwill and philanthropy among the youth of our nation, and in light of UAE’s Year of Tolerance agenda, we are honoured to be able to inspire our students to serve the local community. We’re committed to building the future leaders of the UAE, and the award reinforces our confidence that our methods are working,” says Dr Kate Suttons Jones, Principal at Sas Al Nakhl Campus, ADNOC Schools.
