World premiere of ‘Reflect Your Light with Kutnu' collection started from Doha, Qatar aiming to deliver the message of Peaceful Existence in Unity
Doha, Qatar, May 12, 2016: ‘Reflect Your Light with Kutnu’ project which is organized under the patronage of Dr. Sare Davutoğlu, Spouse of Prime Minister of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu invited the world to unite for peace.
Emphasizing the importance of living peacefully and in unity with tolerance and global understanding, the project is planned to be launched in many countries after Qatar, in accordance with ‘Turkey-Discover the Potential’ motto.
Kutnu fabric is the embodiment of unique values of a powerful history. It conveys the marks of the Silk Road which is symbolically the road of peaceful unity and interaction of different cultures without racial, religious, lingual discrimination. Historical Kutnu fabric is reintroduced to the world as the fabric of peace on May 10 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Doha.
Passing from Anatolian Seljuks to Ottomans, Kutnu finds life on the looms of the respectful craftsmen of Gaziantep today. Kutnu is re-positioned as the fabric of all times with the exclusive collection created by Turkish fashion designer Rabia Yalçın. The unique collection of 45 looks can be seen as an intercultural bridge between the past and the future. Designer of the collection, Rabia Yalçın, said she went far beyond fashion and out of limits because Kutnu is such a special fabric that it would be unfair to limit it.
Commenting on the collection Rabia said “Kutnu is timeless. Just like various cultures Kutnu has embraced for centuries, I brought many different items together with Kutnu in the collection. I combined Kutnu with leather, chiffon, and velvet. I also used hand-made embroideries.” She added “Everything was in perfect harmony, in peaceful unity. Women who wear Kutnu will feel its power, uniqueness and timelessness”
The show of this exclusive collection was the first debut of ‘Reflect Your Light with Kutnu’ project and was organized in collaboration with Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and with the support of Turkish Embassy in Doha. Besides delegations from Turkey, ministers, diplomats, members of society and business, journalists, fashion influencers from Qatar and the region attended the premier.
Commenting on the occasion, Mehmet Büyükekşi, Chairman of Turkish Exporters Assembly, said “Bringing to light the Kutnu fabric along with Gaziantep and Turkey’s historical richness will not only benefit Turkey’s exports but also our country’s publicity as well as world’s heritage. We invite everyone to reflect the light of unity, peace, and global understanding.”
