CPA Exam Candidates are Provided Additional Opportunities and Added Convenience

UAE, Dubai: December 21, 2014 – The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and Prometric  today announced that testing for the Uniform CPA Examination in the Middle East will be open to all qualified citizens and permanent residents of India beginning October 1, 2014.

Administration of the Uniform CPA Examination began in the Middle East in August of 2011, with testing available in Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.  Qualified candidates from India now are able to travel to take the Exam at any of the Middle East locations. CPA Exam candidates can register on Prometric.com/cpa and conduct their exams at Prometric test sites throughout the Middle East.

“There has consistently been strong demand for the CPA Exam from candidates in India,” said Michael Decker, AICPA Vice President of Exams.   “Opening testing in the Middle East for Indian CPA Exam candidates will help meet that demand.  U.S. citizens abroad, foreign nationals and Indian CPA Exam candidates all have additional options and increased convenience.”

The international administration of the Exam, which is offered in English, is the same as the U.S. Exam administered by the AICPA, NASBA, and Prometric in the United States.

Licensure requirements for international candidates are the same as for U.S. CPA candidates. Along with passing the Uniform CPA Examination, international candidates must meet education and professional experience requirements as mandated by U.S. Boards of Accountancy.

NASBA’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Colleen K. Conrad, notes, “Because the financial world knows the path to become a U.S. CPA is rigorous, the designation is highly regarded.  Those who obtain a U.S. CPA license are highly sought after for employment as their knowledge and skills are proven.”

In the United States, Boards of Accountancy are the only entities authorized to grant the U.S. CPA license. Indian candidates may apply through one of the U.S. Boards of Accountancy.  A list of participating Boards of Accountancy and information regarding fees are posted on the “EXAMS” section of the NASBA website at www.nasba.org.  NASBA International Evaluation Services (NIES) is available for candidates who wish to have their educational credentials evaluated. NIES can be contacted at: 1-855-468-5382, via email at nies@nasba.org or via the website at www.nasba.org/nies.

An updated FAQ on the International CPA Exam is available online at www.aicpa.org/cpa-exam.
