Dubai Culture Concludes Inaugural Piano Camp
Dubai, UAE, 7 May 2025: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has wrapped up its inaugural Piano Camp, organised in strategic partnership with HOUSE of PIANOS and Steinway & Sons Dubai. Designed to spotlight emerging talent and empower a new generation of Emirati artists, the six-month programme welcomed 17 performers for piano lessons, masterclasses, lectures, and technique workshops covering classical piano performance and music theory.
Throughout the camp, the students explored the history of classical music, which helped refine their skills and enrich their expressive range. All participants advanced through the first and second rounds of the 1st Steinway Piano Competition GCC 2025, evaluated by an esteemed panel of Steinway Artists, renowned composers, professors, and internationally acclaimed pianists.
Fatma Al Jallaf, Acting Director of the Performing Arts Department at Dubai Culture, highlighted the Authority’s drive to build a robust foundation that nurtures the growth of the music sector across the emirate. She said: “By creating this platform, we aimed to give promising Emirati performers an exclusive opportunity to polish their craft and fuel their passion for music. Initiatives like these are essential for deepening Dubai’s cultural tapestry and strengthening its creative industries. Piano Camp exemplifies our commitment to investing in future generations, ensuring the sustainability of the sector, and raising the city’s profile as a leading destination for the arts.”
Shavkat Mamadjonov, Founder of HOUSE of PIANOS UAE, expressed his pride in the participants' achievements. He said, “Watching these young Emirati talents perform with such artistry and confidence on Steinway concert pianos at Steinway Hall has been one of the proudest moments in our history. Through initiatives like the Piano Camp, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting the arts and enabling a new generation of musicians to transform their passion into reality, sharing the message of music with the world.”
The Piano Camp programme forms part of the Dubai Cultural Grant, an initiative under the emirate’s Quality of Life Strategy. It seeks to develop the cultural and creative industries in the emirate through a dedicated fund of AED 180 million over 10 years, offering targeted grants to support and empower Emirati and UAE-based talent artists. This further reinforces Dubai’s position as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.
