Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 13, 2025:  With medical support from the Dubai Health Authority, teams from the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services successfully carried out a specialised organ transfer operation, contributing to saving the lives of four patients and stabilising their health conditions. The operation was conducted in collaboration with several governmental and healthcare entities across the country.

These efforts come as part of the National Program for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue, known as ‘Hayat,’ which promotes a culture of organ donation in the country under the umbrella of the National Organ Transplantation Committee and the National Centre for Regulating Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation at the Ministry of Health and Prevention. The programme aims to provide hope and enhance the quality of life for patients in need of organ transplants.

His Excellency Mishal Abdul Karim Julfar, Executive Director, Dubai Corporation Ambulance Services expressed his pride in this achievement and in the ability of ambulance teams to safely and efficiently transport organs to three hospitals across the country, ultimately saving the lives of four patients. He emphasised that this success highlights the importance of raising community awareness about organ transplantation and underscores the necessity of collaboration among all healthcare sectors to encourage organ donation in accordance with the approved regulations and guidelines in the country.

Julfar commended the positive cooperation and full coordination among the various entities involved. The National Centre for Regulating Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation at the Ministry of Health and Prevention oversaw logistical operations, while the Dubai Health Authority provided the necessary medical support, while the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services ensured rapid transportation using a helicopter. Meanwhile, Dubai Police played a pivotal role in securing the transfer process to guarantee the timely arrival of the organs in accordance with the highest medical standards.

Julfar stated: 'The United Arab Emirates continues to lead in promoting a culture of organ donation and transplantation at both regional and global levels, reflecting the vision of our wise leadership and aligning with the objectives of ‘We the UAE 2031.’ This national strategy strengthens the country’s global standing and aims, among other key pillars, to create a world-class, pioneering healthcare system by delivering the best government services through agile operational models that achieve outstanding results.'

For his part, Dr Younis Kazim, Acting CEO of the Health Regulation Sector at the Dubai Health Authority, emphasised the significance of this achievement, which reflects the UAE’s commitment to ensuring the success of the National Programme for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation. He highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to save lives and enhance patients’ quality of life through pioneering initiatives that promote organ donation, the adoption of cutting-edge medical technologies and protocols, and the establishment of a comprehensive regulatory framework that supports this vital field. These efforts contribute to solidifying the UAE’s position as a global hub for excellence in healthcare and fostering a healthier, more sustainable society.

Dr Kazim further affirmed that the UAE has become a global model in the field of organ and tissue donation, transfer, and transplantation, thanks to the visionary leadership and its continuous support for the healthcare sector.
