• ABB FIA Formula E World Championship comes to Monaco this Saturday, 6 May, following record-breaking race weekend in Berlin including most overtakes in a race (190), lead changes at the line (20), and different race leaders (eight)
• Maserati MSG Racing driver, Max Günther, swapped four wheels for two ahead of Monaco race to ride the circuit with top pro sprint cyclist, Caleb Ewan

Dubai, Riyadh, 4 May 2023: Ahead of the first Monaco E-Prix for the GEN3 race car – the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car ever built - Maserati MSG Racing driver Maximilian Gunther teamed up with Caleb Ewan, one of the top professional spint cyclists, to experience the world’s most famous street circuit together at a slightly gentler pace.

Riding for the UCI Pro team Lotto-Dstny, Australian Caleb Ewan is one of the world’s leading pure sprinters and the most effective finisher in the world. Nicknamed the ‘Pocket Rocket’ in the peloton, Ewan’s track record includes stage wins in all three Grand Tours and he boasts, one of the finest track records in international cycling.
Günther shared his unique driver’s perspective on their ride through the streets of the Circuit de Monte Carlo explaining race strategy and key areas on the track ahead of Round 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship this Saturday (6 May)

Günther will be one of 22 drivers from 11 teams taking on the 19-turn / 3.337 km track in Formula E’s new GEN3 – the first race car specifically designed and optimized for wheel-to-wheel street racing – as they battle from the hill at Sainte Dévote to the iconic Place du Casino, Mirabeau, Grand Hotel Hairpin and Portier sector.
The race will also be the first time Formula E newcomers Maserati and McLaren have competed together in Monaco since the F1 Grand Prix in 1969. With McLaren finishing just ahead of Maserati all those years ago, Günther and Maserati MSG Racing teammate Edoardo Mortara will be aiming to change that this time out.
Like elite cycling, Formula E is highly-strategic, requiring world-class racing skills balanced with energy efficiency and the two world-class racing professionals found plenty to discuss on their tour.

Max Günther, racing driver, Maserati MSG Racing, said: “It was an honour to share the track with such an amazing athlete like Caleb. He is an expert when it comes to speed and control, and it was fascinating to share our experiences in cycling and motorsports. This weekend is very important for me and the whole Maserati MSG Racing team, the last time a Maserati car won at Monaco was in 1957 with the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio. I hope to honour this legacy with a good result this weekend.”

Caleb Ewan, pro cyclist for Lotto-Dstny Pro cycling Team said: “As a pure sprinter, I have long been a fan of motor racing and sharing the Monaco E-Prix track with a professional driver of the pedigree of Max Günther has been a true privilege. Thank you to Formula E for the opportunity and I wish Max all the success for this weekend, I’ll be watching the race with a keen eye for sure.”
