“There is nothing like a sports event that brings people together. Sports is, perhaps, the most powerful and most effective connective tissue between employees,” Shubhojit Mahalanobis, Director, Danube Home Retail & Danube Hospitality Solutions, remarked on the incredibly uplifting and pleasantly heartwarming eve of Danube Sports Festival 2022.

Sports bring people together, transcend nationalities and cultural barriers, form the spirit of togetherness, give birth to positivity, and build a healthy competitive environment among teams of people from different backgrounds. Sports make you a better team player; you learn cooperation, gain confidence, and become a better person overall. That was the goal behind Danube’s high-octane, action-packed, adrenaline-rushing Danube Sports Festival 2022. This is not just a one-off event. Danube will be conducting this mega sports event every year to promote a healthy lifestyle, build team spirit, and self-confidence among employees.
Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director of Danube, Adel Sajan, stated that “through sports, Danube intends to foster and reinforce a culture of happiness and high performance, cultivate positivity, promote employee well-being, and give rise to an ethos of shared leadership because that is what Danube stands for.”

The recently concluded Danube Sports Festival 2022, which lasted six days, was an epitome of employee diversity and inclusivity. It was organized at a grand scale like never before, bringing together more than 1500 hundred participants representing 21 plus nationalities from Danube showrooms (Building Materials, Retail, & Hospitality), Danube Properties, Fleet Department, HR Department, Warehouses, Finance, and many others who competed in 5 sporting disciplines, namely Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Football, and Cricket. Danube Sports Festival 2022 broke many records and produced 300 plus trophy and medal winners, some of whom were spouses and family members of employees. The level of enthusiasm shown by employees was of unparalleled significance, and the games were played with professional zeal. On top of that, technology and digital platforms were fully utilized to keep everyone updated and encourage employee engagement with the games.

The purpose of this mega sporting event was to motivate and engage employees in friendly competition, encourage healthier lifestyles through sports, build confidence and self-esteem, and promote teamwork by providing an enabling environment in which people from different backgrounds can come together to achieve one shared objective.

The event proved to be a remarkable success in promoting employee well-being, team-building, camaraderie, engagement, and building pride from all possible perspectives. Furthermore, the way this sporting event was organized showed that Danube is determined to make a positive difference in the lives of its highly diverse workforce.

In a concerted effort to promote women’s participation in sports, Danube Sports Festival 2022 boasted of hosting all women’s cricket tournament, women’s doubles badminton, and mixed doubles badminton & table tennis competitions.
The enthusiastic participation by women in the different sporting competitions was a sure sign of their increasing self-confidence, the values Danube so actively promotes.

Danube Sports Festival 2022 also invited their staff’s friends, family members, and kids to be a massive part of this incredible fun-filled, action-packed sporting event.

A wide range of exciting activities were lined up to take fun and enthusiasm to the next level: face-painting, glitter tattoos, balloon bending, bouncing castle, bubble show, and candy floss.
Danube Sports Festival 2022 is one shining chapter of a much bigger engagement and well-being story. It’s all a way of showing that Danube cares about its people and that the company is invested in looking after them in every way possible.
