
Abu Dhabi University Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with ATOMENA Energy Solutions
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate - 13, October 2021: Abu Dhabi University (ADU) and ATOMENA Energy Solutions (ATOMENA), a leading local Nuclear Energy service provider, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic cooperation and the exchange of scientific findings between the two entities.
Professor Waqar Ahmad, Chancellor of ADU and Khaled Seddiqi, Chairman of ATOMENA signed the MoU in the presence of Mohamed Alowais, Vice Chairman, Ali Geedi, Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Ghazi, Chief Operating Officer and Khalid Al-Khaja, Director of Nationalization at ATOMENA. Along with, ADU faculty members from the College of Health Sciences (COHS), including Dr. Nisreen Hassan Alwan, Acting Dean, Dr. Deena Elsori, Dean of Student Affairs and Associate Professor of Cell Biology, and Dr. Rahaf Ajaj Assistant Professor of Environmental Health and Safety.
The MoU will see both parties deliver and develop practical training and courses in the field of nuclear energy. This joint partnership will facilitate ADU to host events and competitions to present educational programs oriented around nuclear energy and solutions while allowing ATOMENA to expand the framework of their research accordingly. Students will enjoy the chance to apply for internships in ATOMENA and be presented with an employment opportunity when vacancies are available.
Professor Waqar Ahmad, Chancellor of ADU, said:” We are proud to be part of this collaboration with ATOMENA which will certainly open more doors for our students and help develop their skills and capabilities. This MoU is another step further down the road of continuous progress for our university.”
Professor Waqar added: “ADU offers a wide range of Health Sciences programs that will be enriched further by this partnership while also facilitating COHS students to focus on nuclear energy solutions to develop innovative ways to help the community. It’s our pride and pleasure to witness the success of our faculty and students, therefore, we strive to always provide them with the needed tools to build a better future and career.”
Khaled Seddiqi said: “ATOMENA’s mandate is to support the UAE’s nuclear energy sector through the implementation of project-based localization, Emiratization, and knowledge transfers. This collaboration with ADU will serve as the foundation of the development of Human Capital (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel – SQEP) thus ensuring a self-sustaining, self-reliant Nuclear sector for generations to come.”
The College of Health Sciences is the newest college introduced by ADU, it focuses on providing an outstanding academic experience in Public Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Nutrition and Biomedical Sciences. Additionally, it provides advanced research opportunities for students and allows them to engage with peers on a local, regional and international level.
