Abu Dhabi, 02 August 2021: The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an has announced that it is now accepting applications to its 2021 intake to the Grants programme, which will provide vital funding support to not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises in Abu Dhabi that have been affected by COVID-19.
The programme was created to help third sector organisations that are committed to addressing key social priorities as part of Ma’an’s on-going efforts to drive social impact and innovation in Abu Dhabi. Recipients will be able to use the funds to create opportunities and invest in initiatives that will help improve the quality of life for residents.
Applications are now being accepted for the programme that will enable selected businesses that meet the defined application criteria to receive financial assistance from Ma’an of up to AED200,000.
The opening of applications to the Grant programme comes at a crucial time following a difficult period for not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises, which have struggled to deal with a series of unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19.
The impact has resulted in many organisations in the social sector making necessary adjustments to survive with the loss of revenues impacting the everyday lives of Abu Dhabi residents that rely on these services. Among those affected are People of Determination, as well as young people, senior citizens and families on low incomes.
Ma’an will work closely with the successful Grant recipients to ensure they have the correct resources and knowledge to help drive sustainable and measurable impact that will make Abu Dhabi’s communities more cohesive and inclusive.
Her Excellency Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of Ma’an, said: “Through the Grants programme, we continue to affirm our commitment in assisting not-for-profit organisations, third sector entities and social enterprises by providing them with key financial support in order for them to develop and grow.
“The work they do for our society is truly inspiring and by giving them improved financial security so they can continue their work they can continue to address key social priorities, which helps us create a better tomorrow in Abu Dhabi.”
To be eligible to apply to the Grants Programme, not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises must hold a valid UAE licence, have been in operation for at least one year and provide a wide range of support across different social priorities that have been strategically identified by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi.
