Dubai Customs Wraps Up Successful 4th UAE Customs Week

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih: “UAE Customs Week” gained international reputation with the participation of WCO


United Arab Emirates -  February 01, 2021:  H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs said the UAE Customs Week has gained global reputation with the active participation of the World Customs Organization in the 4th UAE Customs Week, held from 24-28 January 2021. 
The Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) HE Kunio Mikuria, in a televised speech on the opening of the Week, said customs in the UAE is an example to follow and the sector’s digital transformation is reflective of the huge advancement that takes place in the field.  


The UAE has strong and solid relationship with the WCO that was translated into giving the UAE the honor of hosting the 5th WCO Global AEO Conference, which will be organized by Dubai Customs in coordination with the Federal Customs Authority.


H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih:
“Around 950 people (employees, school students, and employees) participated in the activities of the 4th UAE Customs Week, which runs this year under the theme “Dubai Customs; Sustainable Operations”. The events were launched online considering the current circumstances. We launched Dubai Customs strategic plan 2021-2026 during the week and ideclare application on Google Play and Apple Store. There was also a discussion panel for the youth, organized in cooperation with the Federal Youth Authority, in which 96 young people submitted disruptive ideas.  


During the Customs Week, Dubai Customs organized a meeting with the Dutch companies in Dubai in the presence of the Dutch Consul General Hans Sandee to develop better relationships and open new windows for trade and investment. The Director General of Dubai Customs has also received H.E Hussein Baqis, Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE to discuss means to develop trade and investment cooperation.  


H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih honoured 11 customs departments that actively participated in the Customs Week. 
“In the next versions of the Customs Week, we look forward to active participation from more customs authorities around the world. This will help us exchange ideas and discuss the developments and the future of the customs sector,” he said.
