Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates—19 November 2020:  As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to continue encouraging health and well-being and coinciding with Dubai Fitness Challenge 2020, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) held a sports event for its Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campus faculty and staff members, at Hudayriyat’s new leisure, sports and entertainment destination in Abu Dhabi, developed by Modon Properties.

The one-day event kept ADU’s faculty and staff members’ adrenaline pumping with a range of outdoor activities including cycling on Al Hudayriat’s track, boxing on the beach and CrossFit exercises. The day’s program was led by personnel from Peak Fitness Gym, a leading fitness center in the UAE offering a complete multi-disciplinary, cross-training approach to fitness and well-being.

Professor Waqar Ahmad. Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University commented: “We’re thrilled to have hosted this event, as it provided a great platform for ADU’s faculty and staff to connect, all the while being motivated and inspired to unlock their physical potential. We are always keen to encourage members of ADU’s community to adopt a healthy lifestyle and build valuable relationships with their peers. What better way to do that through dynamic sports activities and friendly competitions!”
He added: “Our commitment towards the health and wellness of our community has always been embedded in our core strategic goals. As an organization, we are mindful of the kind of impact we have on all aspects of society, whether that be economic, social, or environmental. ADU’s slogan is 'knowledge to achieve, and wisdom to lead' and we endeavor to embody this by setting an example for the wider community through our CSR efforts.”

The event saw great participation from ADU’s Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Campuses, taking into consideration stringent precautionary measures including maintaining a social distance of at least two meters between each participant, installing sterilizers and temperature checks of all participants, as well as mandating facemasks at all times except during exercise.

Hudayriyat Island is Abu Dhabi’s latest leisure, sports and camping destination. It includes ten distinct offerings such as Bab Al Nojoum, the emirate’s first urban camping site, Marsana, a vibrant waterfront promenade with a variety of F&B retail outlets, 321 Sports, Circuit X, OCR Park for adventure seekers, Hudayriyat Courts, a cycling track, Bike Park for sports enthusiasts, Heritage Trail for nature lovers and Hudayriyat Beach.
