Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates—05 April 2020:   Out of 600 member chapters, Abu Dhabi University’s Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter, under the auspices of the College of Business, has received the BGS’s 2020 Bronze Outstanding Chapter Award for the second time since 2018, in which the BGS-ADU Chapter was named the Gold Outstanding Chapter of the Year. BGS Chapters can only be formed in Colleges of Business which are accredited by the prestigious AACSB. The purpose of this award is to acknowledge excellence in business programs established by internationally-recognized academic institutions that host a BGS Chapter. As part of the award, ADU will also receive a scholarship from BGS that will be awarded to an outstanding student.

In addition, Dr. Fauzia Jabeen, Associate Professor of Management in the College of Business, received BGS’s 2020 Chapter Advisor of the Year Award for the second time for her extraordinary Chapter leadership skills and demonstration of the highest honor and integrity consistent with the ideals of BGS.
Regarding the Chapter award,  Denise Cage, Associate Director of Programs & Alumni Engagement, Beta Gamma Sigma, said, “We received a number of worthy nominations, but felt your Chapter deserved this award due to the activities, programs, and events available to your students. The Chapter’s success over the years has been repeatedly recognized by BGS, and the awards received in both 2018 and 2020 demonstrate the ongoing and continuous success of the BGS-ADU Chapter”. Referencing Dr. Fauzia’s receipt of the Chapter Advisor Award, she  added, “We are truly grateful for your commitment to your students and your Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter”.

Commenting on the announcement, Prof. Waqar Ahmad, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, said, “As one of the largest providers of quality business education in the UAE, the College of Business is committed to achieving excellence through the development of knowledge and expertise that enables innovative thinking and sustainable growth in organizations. It gives us great pride to see ADU’s College of Business being recognized as the winner of Beta Gamma Sigma’s 2020 Bronze Outstanding Chapter Award. This is  testament to the true strength of our academic programs that comes from the contributions of our faculty and staff.”
Prof. Waqar added, “This accolade further exemplifies our successes in achieving our Vision 2022, to provide our students with a truly global education and a holistic learning experience in line with the UAE government’s National Agenda to foster leadership, innovation, and  ambition among its graduates, ensuring they are prepared to become well-rounded influential leaders of the future.”

Each year, BGS Outstanding Chapter Awards are presented in the form of gold, silver, bronze, and best practice levels. These awards are merit recognitions presented to chapters that have a variety of activities, programs, and events available to students that support the BGS mission. The Chapter Advisor of the Year Award is presented to one exemplary Chapter Advisor every year.

Established in 1913, BGS is an international honor society which operates exclusively for AACSB-accredited business programs. Membership in BGS is highly selective, reserved for top students within the top 5% of business schools around the world. Members of BGS go on to lead—and even create—some of the largest and most successful companies around the globe. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, BGS has inducted more than 830,000 members worldwide since its inception. Its mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in business, thereby cultivating professional excellence to advance the values of the Society and to serve its lifelong members. The mission is supported by four objectives: encourage and honor academic achievement by students of chapter members’ business and management programs; develop chapter members as professional leaders; foster in chapter members an enduring commitment to the founding principles and values of the Society; connect the student and alumni members to each other to enhance opportunities in their professional lives.
