Doha Bank CEO honored with “Business man of the year award”
Dubai, June 18, 2015: Dr. R. Seetharaman, Group CEO of Doha Bank, was honored with the “Business Man of the Year Award” at the Qatar Today Business Awards held recently in Doha, Qatar. Dr. Seetharaman was awarded for his strong beliefs in management principles and for his dynamic leadership qualities in leading Doha Bank with strong values and firm principles.
On receiving the award Dr. Seetharaman gave insight on what are the key areas which he believes are important in running a financial institution. He said “The key areas which require thrust are realignment of business model in accordance with structural changes in environment, building corporate image, sustaining business growth, grooming people for environment, leveraging on technology, practice corporate social responsibility and manage stakeholder’s expectations.”
Dr. Seetharaman highlighted on each of the above areas. He said “There is a need to develop a new organization mindset taking into consideration the dynamics in external environment and based on participative leadership from management. The Global Financial crisis had changed the external environment for the financial services industry and resulted in a new financial architecture. Senior management from various business groups, risk, finance and other critical units should believe in the shared vision for effective implementation of strategy. Building and protecting the corporate image of the organization is the key role of today’s CEO. Brand management and reputation risk management are vital for today’s organization. Sustaining business growth should begin from fulfilling the requirements of the customer. Customer needs are always evolving hence we should always look for innovative ways in fulfilling their needs. There is a need for minimizing people skill gaps, improve motivation levels of staff and create a real time enterprise. Technology should been seen as a tool to improve the offerings for customers. Hence IT and Business linkage should be strengthened to meet the dynamic needs of customers. The key stakeholders namely investors, board, regulators and customers have their expectations, hence managing their expectations is critical. Last but not the least today organization’s have a role in contributing to the society. Hence they should practice corporate social responsibility and encourage sustainable development.”
