Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 25, 2015: His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) recently received a delegation from Canada. The delegation was led by Dr Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long Term Care in Ontario, Canada. The two sides discussed ways to explore and enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of healthcare. Al Qatami provided an overview of the Dubai Healthcare system. He mentioned that DHA would like to further strengthen the existing relationship between Dubai and Canada in the field of healthcare. Al Qatami highlighted that like Canada, the Emirate of Dubai, is also keen to develop health innovation solutions for the health sector. “The areas we see potential in for further cooperation includes health innovation solutions and strategies as we firmly believe that health innovation is a vital component that will drive growth and sustainability for the health sector. The other area of cooperation that we are keen to explore is continuous medical education. This is an area of focus because we understand the value of human capital particularly in the healthcare field.” Al Qatami also highlighted that the two sides can explore cooperation and use of innovation for geriatric home care. He provided an overview of the home care services already available for the geriatric population in Dubai and DHA’s plans to provide additional services in this field. Hoskins discussed ways to strengthen mutual commitment in innovation using new technologies to strengthen healthcare systems. “We have a lot of expertise in this area. Additionally, we would also like to explore cooperation in continuing medical education and we already have strong relations with Dubai in this field, but there is no doubt we can do more.”
