Partners with Awqaf and Minors’ Affairs Foundation to Support Humanitarian Initiative for Orphaned Children

Dubai-UAE: 5 March, 2014 - Noor Bank, previously known as Noor Islamic Bank, has opened up new channels by which customers can make donations to the Family Village humanitarian initiative, as part of its collaboration with the Awqaf and Minors’ Affairs Foundation (AMAF), which has been mandated to establish and manage the first-of-its-kind children’s shelter.

Noor Bank’s customers seeking to contribute to the Family Village project now have the options to make their donations through the bank’s branches, via an online banking platform, through ATMs, or in person. Noor Bank’s credit card subscribers can also redeem their reward points for cash donations to the Family Village.

Hussain Al Qemzi, Group Chief Executive Officer, Noor Investment Group and Chief Executive Officer, Noor Bank, said: “We have always prioritised giving back to the community. Undoubtedly, this is something that most individuals also take seriously. However, our fast-paced life most often does not allow us to participate in worthwhile causes. With this partnership, we hope to encourage and enable our customers to contribute to worthy initiatives such as the Family Village. This project is set to redefine the standards of community integration, welfare and familial environment offered to orphans worldwide. Moving forward, we hope to extend our partnership to other AMAF projects to allow our customers the freedom to support causes close to their hearts.”

Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General, Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, said: “We thank Noor Bank for taking this initiative in helping its clients participate in a worthy cause. Family Village has received unprecedented support from the community for which we are grateful. The project is shaping up as planned and we look forward to the day when we can welcome our guests into their new home.”

Family Village is an initiative that was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Located at Al Warqaa’ 3, the development will include around 16 villas. The Family Village will also feature residential villas and support services such as an administration building, clinic, emergency medical facilities, nursery and kindergarten, playground and garden (integrated recreational area), and support service buildings.

Full-time 'mothers' will be assigned to each villa to give children the required love, attention and care while allowing each house to function as a homogenous unit. Each villa will also have ‘aunts’ who are helpers while a ‘grandmother’ will oversee the day-to-day operations of the village to complete the family environment for children. The village will provide a community ambience to enable children to grow up into well-rounded individuals capable of integrating into and contributing to society as productive individuals.
